Dr. Stephen B. Hopping is the Medical
Director of the Washington Hair Institute. He received his specialty
training at Harvard University, and has been practicing hair replacement
and cosmetic surgery for over 20 years in Washington, D.C. His areas
of specialty include not only hair transplantation but facial plastic
surgery and body liposuction and sculpting.

Prior to coming to Washington,
D.C., Dr. Hopping's educational experience began at Brown
University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree
in 1971. In 1975, he completed his medical school studies
at the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine. From
1975 to 1977, he studied general surgery at George Washington
University. Dr. Hopping received his specialty training in
otolaryngology, head and neck surgery from 1977 to 1980, at
the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard University,
Boston, Massachusetts. In 1981, he completed his Fellowship
in Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery under the auspices
of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery with Richard Webster, a world-known Associate Professor
of Plastic Surgery at Harvard University. |
Dr. Hopping is Board Certified by four separate and surgical boards:
The American Board of Hair Restoration, The American Board of Cosmetic
Surgery, The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery, and The American Board of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck
Surgery.
Dr. Hopping is a Professor of Surgery at George Washington University
and is regarded by his peers as a highly talented hair restoration
and cosmetic surgeon. Dr. Hopping is involved in teaching surgery
to students and residents from the University. He lectures at numerous
national and international conferences, and is recognized around
the world as both a leader and innovator. Dr. Hopping teaches the
American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Board Review course on a yearly
basis and has written several articles published in medical journals.
In addition, he is frequently sought out by the media as an authority
in his field.
Dedicated to medical missionary work Dr. Hopping, along with his
wife and staff members, travel to Guatemala, twice a year, providing
reconstructive surgical services to underprivileged Latin American
families. Throughout the years, this has changed the faces of children
and adults that have been born with birth defects. Locally, Dr.
Hopping and his wife participate with many charities and foundations
that reach out to the needy and less fortunate. Dr. Steven B. Hopping
is affiliated with George Washington University Hospital, Sibley
Memorial Hospital, Providence Hospital, and Washington Hospital
Center.
